La Thuile, Cogne, Aosta and Pila are the four locations in Aosta Valley chosen for the Winter Alpiniadi 2020, the Olympic Games organised by the Alpini National Association. Almost 1500 competitiors will try to win the A.N.A.- Associazione Nazionale Alpini titles for cross-country skiing, downhill skiing, ski mountaineering and biathlon.
Cogne trails will be the protagonists, to be precise, on Saturday 15th February for the cross-country ski competition. The same trails that have been the scenario for the double Italian victory of Federico Pellegrino e Francesco De Fabiani during the sprint race of 2019 World Cup and that are waiting for the many competitors from all over the world for the cross-country Master World Cup.
The start is at 9 am on Sant'Orso meadows. The race will take place on the 5 km track with free technique (5 or 10 km in total depending on the category).
The other competitions on the programme are in La Thuile on Friday 14th with the ski mountaineering race, in Aosta in the afternoon of Saturday 15th with biathlon following the nirdic skiing of the Alpine Pearl, to conclude on Sunday 16th with the slalom on PIla snows.
The weekend will end with the lunch at Caserma Cesare Battisti on Sunday from 1 pm (upon reservation, € 15,00) and with the prizegiving and the closing ceremony at 3:30 pm at Giacosa Theatre in Aosta.
